Slayer played Aftershock (full set video)

After making their return to the stage at Riot Fest last month, Slayer played their second show since their 2019 farewell shows at Sacramento’s Aftershock festival yesterday (10/10). It was supposed to be their third of three 2024 reunion dates, but their set at Louder Than Life got cancelled due to Hurricane Helene. (If you had Louder Than Life tickets, maybe you ended up accepting the festival’s offer to see Slayer at Aftershock instead.)

Their setlist at Aftershock was the same one they played at Riot Fest, including classics like “Raining Blood,” “Angel of Death,” “War Ensemble,” “Mandatory Suicide,” “Dead Skin Mask,” “Hell Awaits,” “Postmortem, and more, along with some lesser-played songs like “Reborn” from 1986’s Reign In Blood and “213” from 1994’s Divine Intervention. Fan-shot video of their full set has surfaced, and you can check that out below.

Louder Than Life’s organizers seemed to promise that “additional compensation” is on the way for those who had tickets to the cancelled day, and they said the offer to see Slayer at Aftershock was “not the only thing we’re working on to make it up to you.” Meanwhile, Kerry King is taking his solo band (including current Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph and vocalist Mark Osegueda of Death Angel) on a 2025 headlining tour with Municipal Waste and Alien Weaponry.

The day before Slayer played Aftershock, they launched a “digital museum” on their website.
