Sick New World 2025 cancelled
The 2025 edition of Las Vegas festival Sick New World has been cancelled. Organizers announced the cancellation in a statement, writing:
It is with great disappointment that we announce that Sick New World will no longer take place in Las Vegas on April 12, 2025.
Despite our best efforts, we’ve encountered unforeseen circumstances that we are unable to overcome for next year’s show. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the dedicated SNW fans who had made plans to join us for another cultural celebration of hard rock, goth, alternative and heavy music. Please stay tuned for further and future information regarding Sick New World.
Tickets purchased directly from Font Gate Tickets will be automatically refunded to the original method of payment in as little as 30 days.
The festival’s 2025 lineup was to have featured Metallica, Linkin Park, Queens of the Stone Age, AFI, Ministry, The Sisters of Mercy, Gojira, Acid Bath, The Flaming Lips, Glassjaw, Meshuggah, Melvins, Testament, Mastodon, Tommahawk, Cannibal Corpse, Refused, Terror, The Hives, X, Poison the Well, Exodus, Quicksand, Sponge, Scowl, Show Me The Body, Napalm Death, Three Days Grace, and more.
The festival was the first show the Mike Patton-lead supergroup Tomahawk had announced in over a decade, and the band’s Trevor Dunn (also of Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, etc) revealed the cancellation ahead of the official announcement in an interview with The Vinyl Guide. As Blunt points out, Dunn’s comments appear to have been edited out of the episode, but he is reported to have said, “I’m probably not supposed to talk about this, but it’s not happening. It’ll come out in the wash soon, but basically, the festival [Sick New World] is not happening. We had a whole tour, we had a two-week thing built around that, which we can’t do now because financially it doesn’t make any sense, so yeah, that’s not happening.”
He added “I believe so” when asked to clarify if the festival was definitely done, and when it was suggested that a final decision may not have been made yet, he said, “No, I think they have. I erased it from my calendar, so I’m not going.”
Sick New World was also the first show Acid Bath announced since their 1997 breakup. See the lineup below.
