Rod Stewart Hints at Retirement from Touring After 2027

Sir Rod Stewart has hinted that he may soon step away from major touring commitments. The 81-year-old pop icon, who has been a fixture on the global stage for more than six decades, suggested that the conclusion of his ongoing One Last Time farewell tour could signal his retirement from the road.

In a recent interview with the U.K.-based soccer chat show TalkSport, Stewart provided insight into his future plans. “I’ve got 40-odd shows this year and that’s not really a lot,” he explained. “And I’m touring the U.K. next year and doing the O2 and that will probably be it, I think. I’ll have to do something new… come on your show more often.”

Stewart is currently in the midst of a busy schedule, including a residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, followed by a series of dates across the Western United States. While he has not yet officially announced the specific dates for his 2027 itinerary, his comments suggest a definitive winding down of his live performance career.

The legendary singer, known for timeless hits such as “Maggie May,” “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright),” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?,” has navigated retirement rumors before. In 2023, he clarified his stance after expressing a desire to move away from “rock ‘n’ roll stuff.” At that time, he reassured fans via social media that he had no intention of retiring, stating, “I was put on this Earth to be a singer and will keep doing so for as long as the good Lord lets me.”

By late 2024, Stewart further refined his position, noting that while he was finished with “large-scale world tours,” he remained deeply committed to performing. “I have no desire to retire. I love what I do, and I do what I love,” he wrote. “I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”

As of now, a spokesperson for the artist has not provided further comment regarding his long-term touring schedule.
