Radiohead to Debut New A/V Installation at Coachella Before North American Tour

A New Immersive Experience

Radiohead is set to debut a new audiovisual installation at Coachella this weekend, offering fans a unique glimpse into the band’s creative world before the experience embarks on a wider North American showcase. The installation, titled Motion Picture House, has been specifically designed to house KID A MNESIA, a film featuring artwork by frontman Thom Yorke and longtime collaborator Stanley Donwood. The visual elements were originally created during the recording sessions for the band’s seminal albums KID A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001).

What to Expect at The Bunker

Festival attendees will have the opportunity to witness the inaugural showing of the installation at Coachella’s ‘Bunker’ venue starting Friday, April 10. The experience will run for a limited time across both weekends of the festival. All ticket holders are eligible to enter the 17,000-square-foot space, which features 28-foot-high ceilings and is buried beneath the Empire Polo Fields. The venue serves as a full-scale gallery for the artwork created by Yorke and Donwood during that era.

According to official festival details, The Bunker will host five screenings daily and is fully air-conditioned. While the installation was teased during the initial lineup reveal in September, the band itself is not scheduled to perform at the festival.

A Journey Through the KID A MNESIA Era

The film is set to a soundtrack drawn from the two LPs, which were famously written and recorded during the same sessions but released separately. In 2021, the band reissued both albums under the KID A MNESIA title, incorporating previously unreleased demos and sketches from the original recording process. The film was initially released as a walking simulator in 2021, following the cancellation of planned in-person exhibitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tour Dates and Ticket Information

Following its debut in Palm Springs, the installation will travel to several major North American cities:

  • Brooklyn: Agger Fish Building (May 6 – 31)
