Pauline Anna Strom releases first new track in 30 years, ahead of new LP next year

San Francisco synth artist Pauline Anna Strom is putting out her first new material in 30 years in 2021 through RVNG Intl.

Angel Tears In Sunlight is due out on February 19th, and the video for first single “Marking Time” is available to watch below. The new record was composed in the same San Francisco apartment that Strom has lived and worked in for 40 years, with some of the same hardware and her pet iguanas, Soulstice and Ms Huff, alongside newer digital equipment.

Strom says that the work, composed after a years-long step away from music, was informed by her practice as a spiritual healer, describing a new understanding of music as “the connective link between the source and us.”

Most of it was recorded live in one take, letting the machines take control: “Many musicians wouldn’t go that far because of ego. The equipment has to become part of you and your creativity. That’s how I think it all comes together.”

A portion of proceeds from the album will go towards The International Iguana Foundation.

In 2017, RVNG released an RA-Recommended retrospective of Strom’s work from the ’80s called Trans-Millenia Music.
