Octo Octa releases new mixtape, Love Hypnosis Vol. 1, on T4T LUV NRG

Octo Octa has just released a new mixtape on her T4T LUV NRG label with Eris Drew.

Love Hypnosis Vol. 1 is “a narrative meant for personal empowerment; to become the person you want to be,” Octo Octa says. “I’ve conducted a few ‘Love Hypnosis’ rituals as extended six hour sets broken into three segments that signal my intentions about love, body and spirit. For this tape series, they will be shorter missives meant to build upon one another and show a growing idea of how music can explore the magic and actualization of ourselves.”

Across the 62-minute mix, Octo Octa wants to send a “message [that’s] meant to move you both physically and emotionally: ‘Love is the fire I need.’ I believe it’s what we all need these days,” she says. “We’re here together. Nobody can stop us now.”

There’s no tracklist for Love Hypnosis Vol. 1, out now. Like all releases on the label, 50 percent of profits from cassette and digital sales via Bandcamp will go to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project.

Octo Octa and Eris Drew launched the label in June 2019 with Drew’s Raving Disco Breaks Vol. 1. Later that year, they released Octo Octa’s RA-recommend album Resonant Body, which was one of our favorites of the year.

Octo Octa and Eris Drew were recently named BBC Radio 1 residents and have been sharing DJ and home studio guides via the T4T LUV NRG website. Last weekend, they hosted a livestream in the forest near their home, which you can watch back via YouTube (although audio has been muted for the first minute due to copyright issues).
