NTS Radio leaves original East London studio, moves to temporary space nearby
The popular online station has moved to a larger, temporary space in the same square, which is being redeveloped by Hawkins/Brown and [Y/N] Studio. According to Architects’ Journal, the joint project “will deliver 1,500m² of mixed-use space.” NTS hasn’t confirmed a long-term plan for a new studio, though its second studio remains in its original spot.
Opened in 2011, the NTS studio became famous for its open hatch, where artists would pose for daily photos amid the sticker-covered walls and door. The latter, Instagram confirms, has been rescued from the developers.
NTS is now an essential node in the global electronic music network, with outposts in Los Angeles, Shanghai and Manchester.
RIP to the OG NTS booth. Can’t imagine how many amazing artists have spent an hour or two in our little Dalston studio since first opening in 2011… pic.twitter.com/Kjwxy2D2bV
