Nick Lowe announces first album in 11 years, touring with Los Straitjackets (listen to “Went to a Party”)

The great Nick Lowe has announced Indoor Safari, his first studio album in 11 years, which will be out September 13 via Yep Roc. He made it with frequent collaborators and tourmates Los Straitjackets as his backing band. “The Straitjackets like all kinds of music, and are very good, open-minded musicians, apart from being very agreeable people,” Lowe says. “And they also have a sort of punk rock ethos, which, unfortunately, I do too. I’ve tried to shrug it off so many times, but I just can’t get rid of it.”

The first single from the album is “Went to a Party,” which Nick cowrote with Los Straitjackets (their first songwriting collaboration) and bears their strong surfy touch. You can watch the video below.

Nick is on a solo tour with Ron Sexsmith in Canada as we speak, and has dates with Los Straitjackets later in June surrounding their appearance at Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival. Those include a NYC-area show at Port Washington’s Landmark on Main Street on 6/26. All dates are listed below.
