The 2024 edition of Newport Folk Festival wrapped up with a big, guest-filled set titled “Conan O’Brien & Real Musicians” and featuring appearances from Jack White, Dawes, Langhorne Slim, Nick Lowe, Nathaniel Rateliff, Mavis Staples, and more. Before that on Sunday were The Dropkick Murphys (who did a couple of Woody Guthrie covers and brought out Billy Bragg for “Worker’s Song”), Brittany Howard (who also made an appearance during Conan’s set), De La Soul (who brought out Pharoahe Monch for a few songs, including his own “Simon Says”), Taj Mahal, Sierra Ferrell (who brought out Gillian Welch and John C Reilly), Cory Wong (who was joined by Sierra Hull, Victor Wooten, Theo Katzman, Nate Smith, and Ariel Posen), Thao, Andrew Bird and Madison Cunningham (who covered Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham’s 1973 album, Buckingham Nicks), Tinariwen, Friko, and La Lom.
