Music Midtown goes on hiatus, cancels 2024 edition
Atlanta festival Music Midtown is on hiatus, and won’t be putting on a 2024 edition. “After producing legendary festivals over the past 3 decades that drew music fans from across the globe, we want to share that Music Midtown is going on hiatus this year,” a message from organizers reads. “We encourage you to continue supporting live music in Atlanta and stay tuned here for future updates.”
The festival’s 2022 edition was cancelled, reportedly because of Georgia gun laws; while the fest listed “weapons or explosives of any kind” as prohibited on the grounds, the state’s “Safe Carry Protection Act” allows weapons to legally be carried in parks and other public spaces. Pro-gun activists had threatened legal action against the festival before they cancelled.
Music Midtown did return in 2023 with a lineup that included Guns N’ Roses, Billie Eilish, P!NK, Flume, The 1975, Lil Baby, and more.
