Mastodon & Lamb of God release collab song “Floods of Triton” (listen)

Mastodon and Lamb of God‘s respective 2004 albums Leviathan and Ashes of the Wake are both widely considered pillars of the “new wave of American heavy metal,” and not only did the bands play those albums together on a co-headlining tour that just recently wrapped up, they’ve now released a collaborative song. It’s called “Floods of Triton,” and it sounds a little more like “Mastodon ft. Lamb of God” to my ears than a 50/50 collab, but in any case, if you like Leviathan-era Mastodon, I have a feeling you’re gonna like this too.

The song was produced by Mastodon and film score composer/producer Tyler Bates, and it also marks Mastodon’s first release for their new label home, Loma Vista (Ghost, Korn, Soccer Mommy, Denzel Curry, etc), following a run of major label releases. Listen below, and pre-order the vinyl single here.

Mastodon and Lamb of God meet again at Riot Fest this month, and both have other (separate) festival appearances after that. All dates for both bands are listed below.

Mastodon have been talking about new music for a while, and Brann Dailor recently said in an interview with Rock 100.5’s The KATT FM’s Cameron Buchholtz that “there’s lots of new material and lots and lots of new stuff,” so stay tuned for more.
