L.S. Dunes tell us about their 10 favorite albums of 2024
The members of post-hardcore supergroup L.S. Dunes had a very busy 2024 and have an even busier 2025 on the horizon, both with this band and their other bands My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, Thursday, and singer Anthony Green‘s solo project. L.S. Dunes were better than ever when I saw them on tour with Rise Against earlier this year, and all the singles from their upcoming sophomore album Violet have been great. And now, the members of L.S. Dunes have teamed up to make us a list of their favorite albums of 2024.
The list includes Anthony Green’s own solo album Doom. Spun., as well as albums by Mannequin Pussy, Fontaines D.C., The Cure, Chat Pile, Blood Incantation, Kim Gordon, and more, with commentary by various band members on each pick. Read on for what they had to say.
Violet drops January 31 via Fantasy Records. My Chemical Romance are playing The Black Parade in full on a stadium tour next year. Thursday released their first two songs since 2011 this year, “Application For Release From the Dream” and the very-recently-released “White Bikes.” Coheed and Cambria are releasing their new album The Father of Make Believe on March 14, going on a co-headlining tour with Mastodon, and setting sail aboard their S.S. Neverender cruise in fall of 2025 with Thursday, L.S. Dunes, and more. And just today, Coheed singer Claudio Sanchez released a covers album.
Here’s L.S. Dunes’ latest single, with a visualizer created by Cedric Bixler-Zavala of At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta, followed by L.S. Dunes’ year-end list…

L.S. Dunes’ 10 Favorite Albums of 2024
Mannequin Pussy – I Got Heaven
Felt like an instant classic to me. The album can go from delicate to fiery brutality in an instant, and flows with such a wild precision that I don’t think a rock ‘n’ roll band has been able to accomplish in a long time.
Fontaines D.C. – Romance
Romance is such a victory for anyone who cares about lyrics. The songs and the sonics of this band are hard to put into a genre. This album feels like the perfect modern representation of the evolution of rock ‘n’ roll.
Anthony Green – Doom. Spun.
Our brother Anthony released yet another incredible record this year. Full of introspective exploration and haunting melodies that tug on your heartstrings like only Anthony can create.
The Cure – Songs of a Lost World
An exercise in repetition and patience, creating a trance at times which always pays off with one of the greatest sounds ever known to the world: Robert Smith’s voice.
IDLES – TANGK
Hands down one of the most exciting bands in rock and roll. Idles constantly push the boundaries and break the molds; they’re effortlessly cool and strange as fuck. Love this record.
Chat Pile – Cool World
Chat Pile are one of my favorite bands and make some of my favorite sounding records. When you put this record on, it’s just plain unsettling. It’s never background music. Chat Pile’s records are the event.
Blood Incantation – Absolute Elsewhere
Cosmic psychedelic death metal on a completely different plane than anyone or anything else. Absolute Elsewhere is somehow able to traverse genres as well as space and time. They should have college courses on this band.
METZ – Up on Gravity Hill
METZ records are my go-to for referencing ferocious drum tones. Glass Eye sounds like what it feels like to take a huge bite of concrete.
Kim Deal – Nobody Loves You More
Kim is one of my favorite songwriters. Still as quirky and odd as ever, but she feels somehow more fully realized in scope and comfortable taking enormous swings that pay off in inspiring ways.
Kim Gordon – The Collective
Between the catchy riffs, soundscapes, and incredible lyrical imagery, I have found something new in every listen.
