Home Is Where’s favorite albums of 2024
After releasing one of 2023’s best albums with The Whaler, Home Is Where had a relatively quiet 2024 in which they played just two headlining shows in February and then Las Vegas’ Best Friends Forever fest in October, but they remained hard at work on their third album, which they recently confirmed is coming in 2025.
With the year winding down, we asked the members of Home Is Where what their favorite albums of 2024 were, and they made us a list that ranges from past tourmates Foxing to experimental metal band meth. to ambient artist Phil Geraldi. See their full list and what they had to say about each pick below.
Earlier this year, Home Is Where singer Bea MacDonald joined us on the BrooklynVegan podcast to talk about the best emo albums of 2014.

Home Is Where’s Favorite Albums of 2024
Bea MacDonald (vocals):
Bob Dylan and the Band – The 1974 Live Recording Samplers
It’s Dylan and the band, doesn’t get much better than this.
Phil Geraldi – AM/FM USA
Beautiful ambient record. The air of America. Music rises with the dust of the highways barreling nowhere and everywhere.
Tilley Komorny (guitar):
1. The Names of Our Friends – Should We Know Better Than to Wonder
The most lucid lyricism I have heard in screamo. A standout debut written with a post-hardcore formula but performed with the urgency needed for punk of these days.
2. meth. – SHAME
A crushing and depressing doom record. Like being sucked into a painting of one of Albrecht Dürer’s depictions of Hell.
3. Jack White – No Name
The embodiment of ‘Dudes Rock’. This album kicks ass and is a return to the old White Stripes attitude.
Connor O’Brien (bass):
Foxing – Foxing
Compared to other Foxing releases this one has went the hardest and showcased a powerful evolution in their style, manifesting a strong atmosphere with both its production and layers of sound.
Aspartame – Inevitably… Hesitation
Really reminds me of that raw classic emo charm all put into a short EP. Permeating the energy of being in a crowded garage; nothing but the music and moments of joy you share with the others you’re wedged between
Josiah Gardella (drums):
Dialup Ghost record – cuz it’s good
Jesus Lizard album – because it was also good
Timmy Heidecker’s album – it was very good
Honorable mentions
JPEGMAFIA‘s album – because it was good
