Hannibal Buress announces grand opening of Isola Brooklyn in former Williamsburg Knitting Factory space
Back in July, Hannibal Buress revealed that he’d be taking over Knitting Factory’s former Williamsburg home at 361 Metropolitan Ave, and reopening it as a new performance venue, Isola Brooklyn. It was originally supposed to open over the summer, and while that didn’t happen, he’s now announced the official grand opening of the space, on Sunday, March 9. Buress will do musical and comedy sets, and be joined by special guests, and tickets are on sale now.
Buress will keep his much-loved Knitting Factory stand-up night going with Isola Sundays, a weekly comedy show, and the next one happens on March 16. Another series, Eshu Tuesdays, will happen one a month starting in March. A press release describes that as a “high-energy night of music, comedy, and improvisation featuring a live band and special musical guests.” Dates haven’t been announced yet, but stay tuned.
“Getting this venue open took way longer than I thought and it was more expensive than I imagined,” Buress says. “I’m excited to have a consistent home to experiment onstage and showcase top talent. When I’m not performing I love going to shows, so now I get to consolidate that into one space. I have a lot of great memories in the space and I’m excited to create more. I’m excited to move past the construction phase and get to putting on events.”
Knitting Factory, meanwhile, has partnered with Baby’s All Right on a venue in the former Pyramid Club Space at 101 Ave A, Night Club 101.
