Funny Bar, a (grand) piano bar and restaurant from Baby’s owners now open on the LES
In addition to Night Club 101 (the new venue in the former Pyramid Club space), the folks behind Baby’s All Right are opening another Manhattan spot called Funny Bar which is a piano bar and restaurant. It’s located at 133 Essex between Rivington and Staunton in the space that was formerly Sons of Essex and Mason Dixon.
Owners Billy Jones and Tom Moore say shows will not be ticketed and you can expect jazz trios playing standards, tributes to Billy Joel and other piano men (and women), and the occasional “odd pop-up performance,” centered around Funny Bar’s Nordiska grand piano.
Funny Bar has been welcoming folks in since late December but the official opening is Wednesday, January 8 where Billy “will be playing his best records.”
