Filmmaker Chandler Levack taking ‘I Like Movies’ on US screening/Q&A tour (NYC dates with Emma Seligman and Griffin Newman)
Canadian filmmaker Chandler Levack made her feature debut in 2023 with I Like Movies, a warm, funny and sometimes painful coming of age story about a “socially inept 17-year-old cinephile, Lawrence Kweller (Isaiah Lehtinen)” who “gets a job at a video store, where he forms a complicated friendship with his older female manager.” The film, which features a score by The Dears‘ Murray Lightburn, hasn’t gotten US distribution (and isn’t available to stream here) but Levack is taking it on the road in April for a series of “One Night Only” screenings in major US cities with Q&As.
There are two NYC screenings: Nitehawk Williamsburg on 4/8 with Bottoms‘ director/co-writer Emma Seligman hosting the Q&A, and the Roxy Cinema on 4/9 with Blank Check podcast cohost Griffin Newman hosting the Q&A.
