Elliott Smith tribute show ft. Grandaddy mems, Kevin Devine, Cheekface, more happening in LA
A bunch of musicians, including some members of the touring band for his 2000 album Figure 8, will celebrate what would’ve been Elliott Smith‘s 55th birthday with a tribute show, “All My Rowdy Friends,” on August 6 at The Regent Theater in Los Angeles. It’s a benefit show for New Monkey Studio in Van Nuys, CA, and the lineup includes Jason Lytle and Jim Fairchild of Grandaddy, Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses, Margaret Cho, Erik Kertes, Garrison Starr, Mehro, Earlimart, Illuminati Hotties, Cheekface, Kevin Devine, Leslie Stevens, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Figure 8 touring band members Aaron Embry, Scott McPherson, and Shon Sullivan, and more to be announced. Tickets are on sale now.
Also on Elliott’s birthday are 10th anniversary screenings of 2014 documentary Heaven Adores You, including at NYC’s IFC Center on August 6, which will also feature a Q&A with director Nickolas Rossi. You can get details on all screenings here, and watch the trailer for the film below.
Last month, two other notable fans of Elliott’s, Phoebe Bridgers and Soccer Mommy, covered “The Biggest Lie” together in Los Angeles.
