Dekmantel postpones festival to 2021 with same lineup
The Amsterdam event’s eighth edition has been pushed back to August 4th through 8th, 2021, the festival announced today. It was originally planned to run from July 29th through August 2nd, 2020. The official confirmation of Dekmantel 2020’s postponement comes two days after the Dutch government extended the ban on public events from June 1st to August 31st due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition to remaining at the same venue, Amsterdam Bos, Dekmantel’s 2020 lineup—featuring the likes of Theo Parrish, Loraine James and Venetian Snares—will also carry over to the 2021 festival, with more artists TBA.
“Losing Dekmantel Festival this summer does have a massive impact on our small team, as well as the wider network of people we work with all year round: musicians, artists, producers, partners and countless freelancers,” the statement reads. “As such, we would like to take this opportunity to ask that you continue showing empathy for and actively supporting your favourite artists, labels, venues and all other initiatives in the creative sector wherever you can. We need each other more than ever at a time of unprecedented turbulence.”
The Dekmantel team’s May event Lente Kabinet has been cancelled and replaced with a one-day September festival called Zomer Kabinet with a similar lineup. There’s no word yet on whether Croatian festival Dekmantel Selectors will also be postponed or cancelled. That’s planned for August 27th through 31st at The Garden Tisno.
