Chicago punks Sludgeworth announce 7″ with first new music in 30+ years

Back in late 2022, Chicago pop punk vets Sludgeworth (members of Screeching Weasel) reissued their post-breakup 1995 Lookout! Records compilation Losers of the Year on Red Scare Industries, and now they’re set to release a 7″ with new music for the first time in over 30 years! The two-song “Together Not Together” single (b/w “Foundation”) comes out May 17 via Red Scare, and you can pre-order it here.

Singer Dan Schafer (aka Dan Vapid) says, “I thought the idea of new music was a terrible idea. But then the guys sent me music they were kicking around, and words and a melody immediately popped into my head. Those few seconds changed everything. After 32 years since our last recording, I can honestly say I couldn’t be more excited about this release.”

Drummer Brian McQuaid (aka Brian Vermin) adds, “I never thought that after 30 plus years, I’d be saying, ‘Hey check out our new 7” on Red Scare!,’ but I think people will say, ‘Yep… that’s Sludgeworth’ when they hear it.”

Sludgeworth also have a hometown show on June 22 at Beat Kitchen with The Bollweevils and Feral Tact. Tickets go on sale Friday (4/12) at noon Central.
