Blur’s weekend 2 Coachella set is “probably our last gig,” Damon Albarn says

Blur have once again signaled that their current reunion is at an end. At their weekend two Coachella set, Damon Albarn told the crowd, “in the spirit of clarity and truth, this is probably our last gig” as he introduced the final song of the set, “Tender.”

Back in December, Albarn had said that it was “time to wrap up this campaign,” continuing, “It’s too much for me. It was the right thing to do and an immense honour to play these songs again, spend time with these guys, make an album, blah-blah-blah.” Since then, Blur have played three shows — both weekends of Coachella, and a warm-up show in Pomona, which was their first US date in 9 years, since playing NYC’s Madison Square Garden in 2015.

The band was faced with a lackluster crowd at weekend one of Coachella, and after trying to get them to sing along with “Girls & Boys,” Albarn told them, “You’re never seeing us again, so you might as well fucking sing it.”

They kept to the same setlist as weekend one for weekend two, again bringing out the Torres Martinez Cahuilla Bird Singers for “Bird Song,” “Death of a Party,” and “Tender.” See their weekend two setlist below, along with a few pictures from weekend one, and video of “Song 2” from weekend one.
