Auntie Flo launches 24-hour radio station, Ambient Flo
Conceived during the first UK lockdown, Ambient Flo began as a weekly live stream from Auntie Flo’s garden. It’s now a 24-hour station broadcasting 300-track playlists curated by the Glasgow artist and guests. Every month, the playlist changes. November’s guest curator is JD Twitch, with music by Jon Hassell, Midori Takada and Kara-Lis Coverdale.
Ambient Flo focusses on “other-worldly electro-acoustic music,” according to the website. The 300 tracks are split into three playlists—morning, daytime and night—with the song order changing each day. Birdsong is also available 24/7 on a separate channel.
Ambient Flo is free to use, though fans can support the project via Patreon. For every £3 of revenue, the team will donate £1 to the featured artists. The other £2 will be split between running costs and the curators. The website says the project needs 500 backers in the first three months to be sustainable.
Ambient producers can send tracks for consideration via this email address.
