AppleTV+ series ‘Omnivore’ scored by Dan Deacon, Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad, more (hear the soundtrack)
Ominore, the eight-part AppleTV+ food documentary series, dropped all eight episodes of its first season on July 19. Created by chef René Redzepi of Copenhagen restaurant Noma and food writer Matt Goulding, the series focuses on a single ingredient for each of its episodes, including chiles, rice, salt, corn and more. It’s as gorgeous to look at as Noma’s food (Redzepi also narrates), shot around the world, and sounds good too. Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest), who together run Jazz is Dead, composed the main theme, and each episode features a score by a different composer.
Among those: Dan Deacon, appropriately, did the score for “Bananas”; Massive Attack, Arca and Radiohead collaborator Oliver Coates worked on “Salt”; Jónsi collaborator Alex Somers scored “Chile”; and composer and electronic artist Ishaan Chhabra worked on “Rice.”
