Alison Moyet (Yazoo) announces new album ‘Key,’ shares “Such Small Ale” and rework of “All Cried Out”

Alison Moyet, who scored ’80s hits as one half of synthpop band Yazoo (Yaz in North America) and as a solo artist, has announced a new album, Key, which will be out October 4. The album, which also celebrates her 40th year as a solo artist, features brand new versions of 16 singles, and other songs from her career. Says Alison, “I wanted to take the opportunity to look at the trajectory of the past four decades and explore songs that, in their original form, were never fully realised or have had their relevance to me altered by time.”

Alison made Key with her producer, arranger and musical director Sean McGhee; some songs hew close to the originals while other diverge quite a bit. There’s also a brand new song, “Such Small Ale,” which she wrote with McGhee and Suede guitarist Richard Oakes. You can listen to that and the minimal, synthy Key version of her 1984 hit “All Cried Out” below.

Alison will be on tour in 2025 with UK/EU dates happening in the winter and spring, with North American dates still to be announced. Her tour schedule is below.
