Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Steve Vai and Danny Carey playing ’80s King Crimson on BEAT tour

Adrian Belew and Tony Levin, who both played in King Crimson in the ’80s, will be performing that material with Steve Vai and Tool drummer Danny Carey as BEAT. King Crimson founder Robert Fripp actually suggested the name — it’s title of King Crimson’s 1982 album — and gave them his blessing. In addition to songs from Beat, the quartet will also perform songs from 1981’s Discipline and 1984’s Three Of A Perfect Pair.

The tour begins September 13 in San Jose and hits NYC on October 5 at Beacon Theatre. Tickets for all dates of the tour go are on artist presale now (password: BEATTOUR) and go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 5 at 10 AM local time.

All dates are listed, along with a promo video for the tour and a few videos.

Robert Fripp, meanwhile, is busy with other things.
