Acido releases unheard mid-'90s tracks from Japanese producer Web

German label Acido has put out a retrospective of unreleased tracks from Web.

Web, real name Takuya Sugimoto, began making techno in 1993 while studying art in Osaka. He released a handful of albums on the Japanese label Syzygy, before putting out most well-known record, The EVA EP, as the inaugural release on London imprint FatCat in 1996. He hasn’t released anything under the alias since, though he’s put out music under his own name and aliases like Cologne.

The Sound There collects previously unheard tracks from Sugimoto recorded between 1994 and 1995 and left on forgotten DAT tapes. Acido came upon them when label head Dynamo Dreesen went on tour in Japan last year, and asked Saito from Newtone Records if he knew what happened to Web. A month later Sugimoto sent a batch of vintage tracks to Dynamo Dreesen, and The Sound There was born.
