404 Eros details new cassette mix series with tapes from Danielle, Phuong Dan, Lord Tusk

404 Eros are starting a new cassette tape series called 5enses.

These tapes are meant to “evoke the five senses,” according to the label. The first five form the first chapter, called In Privacy We Cope, “exploring themes of solitude, self-reflection, mental health and identity” with hour-long mixes from each artist.

The tapes are designed by visual artist Goldenilustra, with photography from Leon De Becker and video work by CHILD, and each will come with recipes from Ottolenghi cookbook co-author Ixta Frage. Smell will be represented by Armenian burning papers.

The first tape comes from Bristol DJ Danielle, followed by mixes from Lord Tusk, Phuong Dan, Zakia and Bruno.

“I thought a mix which focused quite heavily on electro would be perfect for a tape themed around privacy,” says Danielle of her tape, “because to me, it’s the kind of music which you can get immersed in on your own, by just keeping your head down and dancing. You can enjoy it ‘privately,’ even if you’re in a room full of people.”

Listen to a preview of Danielle’s tape, which is available at Bandcamp. All proceeds go towards Black Minds Matter UK.
