38 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

CURSIVE – “BOTCH JOB”

Cursive have shared the second taste of Devourer, and it’s an unmistakably-Cursive song that Tim Kasher says this about: “‘Botch Job’ is a rumination on what one has done with this life and those unfulfilling feelings that may accompany such thoughts. At this point, I don’t care to know what damage my body has incurred from years of abuse. It’s those anxiety-fueled gremlins keeping you restless in the dead of night, but put to song.”

Ben Seretan has given us another taste of his upcoming album for Tiny Engines, Allora. He told Stereogum that the original idea was to make this a 15-minute song, but his bandmates encouraged him to “end it abruptly” and cut it down to three. COLD SPECKS – “HOW IT FEELS”

Canadian artist Cold Specks is back with her first new music in seven years. She wrote “How It Feels” with Chantal Kreviazuk, and says the song “was written in 2019 at a time when I was struggling with money. It came together quite easily and Chantal is a gem.”

If you live in Spain, I guarantee you have. Dude’s a legend and I’d estimate that he’s produced half the records released down there in the last several decades. The lyrics, like most of the words on “Make It Right,” fit into the overall narrative of my book—a defiant and yet tentative of a return from a temporary abyss while keeping a wary eye out for the next dip ahead. I shot the video within the confines and out on the streets in London surrounding my groovy label Fire Records. Together, we’ll make good on those promises.”
