1385 arts organisations across England receive £257 million to survive next six months
The money, distributed by Arts Council England, is to help the selected theatres, museums, orchestras, music venues and other cultural organisations survive the next six months. All the recipients applied for less than £1 million in support. (Organisations that applied for larger grants are still waiting to hear back.)
The list features several organisations involved with electronic music, including venues and promoters in London (Corsica Studios, Village Underground, Ministry Of Sound, Electrowerkz, The Jazz Cafe, Ormside Projects, Keep Hush, Sink The Pink), Leeds (Mint Warehouse), Bristol (Motion Bristol), Manchester (Warehouse Project, Soup Kitchen, Partisan Collective) and Liverpool (Chibuku/Circus Music, Invisible Wind Factory), plus Reprezent, Classic Album Sundays, The Ransom Note, Crack, Lost Village Festival, Independent Label Market, Block9 and Elijah & Skilliam. Resident Advisor also received a grant.
“This is a difficult time for us all, but this first round of funding from the culture recovery fund will help sustain hundreds of cultural spaces and organisations that are loved and admired by local communities and international audiences,” said Sir Nicholas Serota, chair of Arts Council England.
Other institutions that made the list include Liverpool’s Cavern Club, Bristol’s Old Vic and London Symphony Orchestra. Click here for today’s list in full.
