Chaos at Sea: Aboard Little Steven’s 2026 Underground Garage Cruise

The 2026 installment of Little Steven’s Underground Garage Cruise set sail for Cozumel, Mexico, in April with a loud and rowdy passenger manifest. The voyage, produced by Sixthman, transformed the Norwegian Pearl into one of the most vibrant floating parties of the year, proving that the spirit of garage rock is alive and well on the high seas.

A High-Octane Lineup

Headliners Social Distortion, led by a no-nonsense Mike Ness, delivered powerful sets, previewing material from their latest album, Born to Kill, alongside classics like “Ball and Chain.” The energy remained relentless throughout the trip, with performances from iconic acts and rising stars alike. Jesse Malin, continuing his inspiring comeback following a 2023 spinal stroke, performed two rousing sets, proving his resilience and dedication to his craft. Malin also hosted a reading from his new book, Almost Grown: A New York Memoir, connecting deeply with fans.

Other highlights included the U.K. new wave legends the Buzzcocks, who tore through hits like “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve),” and the surf-rockers the Surfrajettes, who even hosted a late-night pajama party performance. The Mooney Suzuki reunited for a rare gig at sea, frequently blurring the lines between performer and audience, while the Sonics remained a hot ticket, with fans clamoring to catch the seminal Sixties garage-rockers.

Memorable Moments on the High Seas

The cruise was defined by its unique, intimate atmosphere. The Goons provided a wonderfully bizarre spectacle, staging a “heist” in the ship’s jewelry store, while Adam Weiner of Low Cut Connie delivered the most memorable show-ending of the voyage: he marched to the pool, removed his loafers, and waded in to swim a few laps at the conclusion of his set.

Personalities from SiriusXM’s Underground Garage channel, including the Mighty Manfred, Michael Des Barres, and Palmyra Delran, were on hand to toast the ship’s departure from Miami. Delran also performed with the Doppel Gang, complete with go-go dancers. As the 2026 voyage concludes, Little Steven and his team are already looking ahead, with The Damned and X slated to headline the 2027 excursion.
