As the world gradually moves into fall, Norwegian hotshot Tungevaag is teaming up with ‘Bigroom To The Future’ duo Bassjackers, as they present their after-summer single, “Written In The Stars”. This collaboration was an unexpected occurrence when they joined it without much teasers on social media until Tungevaag himself played the track during DJ Mag live stream. I was really excited when he premiered the track and cleverly left out the details regarding whether it would be a solo or a synergy with any Bigroom/Future House artist.

Recently, Tungevaag had released “Ride With Me”, featuring the American hip-hop rapper Kid Ink and later sharing a joint-effort with Blasterjaxx for an energetic interpretation of a festival remix on the single. Meanwhile, Bassjackers released “Arabian Nights” with Dietro on Smash The House. The Tilburg based pair were famous with their Jackin’ Da Bass identity as they brought an old style of themselves and let’s not forget, they have made tons of collaborations with Futuristic Polar Bears, Crossnaders, Jaxx & Vega and of course, the best of both worlds duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

Talking about the production, the creative minds behind this have blended three types of house sub-genres: Progressive, Future House and Big Room. Since the said solo act has experience with those genres, he definitely added his emotional flavour to that track. But the most interesting part is the ‘drop’ (of course). The two climactic portions are so catchy as I can feel there’s a mixture of Electro and Future House as I mentioned above. They made a remarkable team-work, with hefty attention paid on the melodic nuances. Coming to the vocals, the lyricism sings an uplifting and positive theme about how life is important during and after the summer.

“Written In Stars” simply doesn’t need a festival version because how satisfying the outcome is. It adeptly works with different styles and settles on blurring the genre lines for a while, delivering a worthwhile hook. Definitely a commendable and memorable work from the said artists, hoping they continue this streak of experimentation in the coming times as well!
