Timmy Trumpet – Cardio

Timmy Trumpet’s bouncier style hasn’t impressed me all too well. One has to admire his ability to expand upon other genres at his will, yet Bounce isn’t an endeavour worth mentioning. He nearly redeemed that with “Cardio”, a playful track that, sadly, feels awfully generic to me. There’s a constant roller-coaster of things (that I’ve heard before) in this sort of production which raise the red flags for mediocrity.

The rhythm is funky, while the high-pitched vocals seemed to be begging for a usual Slap House drop, but luckily enough, there’s a better segment ahead. I mean, the groovy saxophone does a neat work yes, but still I can’t stop seeing this as a Tik Tok friendly hit as it ticks on all the elements to be one.

And forget about the lyrics, as you won’t remember them five minutes after listening. There are a lot of commercial Slap House features such as the vocals or the leads in the drop. A part of me wants to admire the instrumental, however as a listener who is more into innovative side of Dance music, “Cardio” becomes a hard pass for me.

At the end of the day, it is hard to deny that Timmy Trumpet is a bona fide veteran, especially as his harder tunes are way more compelling and vigorous. This chipper side of him is a repetitive mess, at least from my viewpoint, despite the great ability this man possesses in crafting some of the catchiest music in the scene.
