Dua Lipa Hosts, Performs “Illusion,” “Happy for You” on SNL: Watch

Dua Lipa is having a fun weekend. On Friday, she unleashed her third studio album, Radical Optimism, and on Saturday, she pulled double-duty on Saturday Night Live, hosting and performing her songs “Illusion” and “Happy for You.”

Kicking off the show with a monologue that featured a shout-out to her parents and a display of her “radical optimism” for any situation (except for South Dakota governor, Kristi Noem), Lipa performed well throughout the episode, especially for her musical segments.

Introduced by Troye Sivan, Lipa delivered an upbeat rendition of the Radical Optimism single “Illusion” with the help of a tight ensemble and a crew of backup dancers. For her second song, Lipa pulled out the album closer, “Happy for You,” belting the climatic final chorus with passion. Watch videos of the performances below.

Other highlights of the episode included a sketch about “teeny tiny statement pins” that celebrities can wear to award shows and an ode to “a big ass aluminum tray of penne alla vodka.” See more sketches here.

Jerry Seinfeld also made an appearance, sitting down with Weekend Update’s Colin Jost as “a man who did too much press,” a reference to his recent press tour in support of Unfrosted (which saw him blame “the extreme left and P.C. crap” for the downfall of sitcoms).

In other Dua Lipa news, she has a number of European tour dates coming up, including stops at Rock Werchter 2024, Glastonbury 2024, and more. See her upcoming dates and grab tickets here.
