Mix Of The Day: Bed Wetter (AKA Man Power)
Man Power‘s ambient-leaning Bed Wetter project gets an airing in this hybrid live-DJ set. Towards the end, check out some new material he’s making for an artist residency at the Sage Gateshead, using instrumentation inspired by his home region of North East England.
In his own words:
It’s really a testament to the Sage, and the North East, that such a prestigious venue would support me this way despite my complete lack of traditional or formal art experience, and that they’re happy to recognise my time spent as part of the UK acid house scene as being a worthy enough creative background to justify them assisting me making an ambitious experimental musical performance piece over the next year… When the work is finished it will feature electronic music, orchestral arrangement, spoken word, archive materials and industrial field recordings.
The piece will be a celebration of working class people from my home region of the North East of England, as well as other working class communities around the world.
