Unsound Festival reveals online programme for 2020
The 2020 edition, whose theme is “Intermission,” will be a mix of audiovisual works, workshops, musical collaborations, webinars and more, all of it taking place online.
“The Internet can be an extremely exhausting place with a multitude of voices, but often lacking a feeling of real connection,” executive director, Gosia Plysa, says. “We’ve tried to navigate the possibilities of different platforms, working with artists in a way that creates a feeling of engagement, support and excitement, but also plays with existing formats.”
The 11-day programme will open with Weavings, an improvisational concept from Nicolás Jaar in which multiple artists contribute to a continuous musical piece. Joining Jaar will be Laraaji, Senyawa‘s Wukir Suryadi & Rully Shabara and more.
Other highlights include audiovisual works by Sinjin Hawke & Zora Jones and DeForrest Brown, Jr.; video essays by Steve Goodman (AKA Kode9) and GAIKA, Shannen SP and GLOR1A’s Nine Nights project; and workshops on deep listening, laughing meditation, gqom and Jersey Club.
