Mike Tyson Smacks Jake Paul in the Face in Wild Staredown
The stunning moment took place during the ceremonial weigh-in before Friday’s blockbuster showdown
Mike Tyson has delivered the first hit.
During the ceremonial weigh-in festivities on Thursday night, Jake Paul loped toward his rival on the floor. When Paul stood up, Iron Mike swiftly slapped the younger boxer with his right hand. Security quickly separated the two as Paul mocked Tyson and played to the crowd.
“Talk is over,” Tyson commented after the wild moment.
When speaking to reporters, Paul brushed off the smack, saying, “I didn’t even feel it.” He continued to taunt Tyson: “He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf. Mike Tyson, I thought that was the cutest slap, buddy. But tomorrow you’re getting knocked the fuck out.” Paul then grabbed the mic and yelled, “It’s personal now! It’s personal now! He must die!”
Both heavyweight boxers successfully made the cut before tomorrow’s highly anticipated fight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Paul, 27, came in at 227.2 pounds, and will enter the ring for the first time as a heavyweight tomorrow evening. Tyson, 58, weighed in at at 228.4 pounds.
Earlier on Thursday, Tyson was caught in another viral moment after being interviewed by 13-year-old reporter Jazzy. When discussing his “legacy,” Tyson offered a sobering message. “I just think that’s another word for ego. Legacy doesn’t mean nothing, that’s just some word everybody grabbed on to,” Tyson said. “I’m just passing through and then I’ma die and it’s gonna be over. Who cares about legacy after that?”
He continued, “Who the fuck cares about me when I’m gone? Nobody cares. Maybe your grandkids, but who the fuck cares.”
