CALLA are back, say new music is coming “very soon”
NYC indie rock band CALLA, who were active from 1997 – 2007 and who released albums on Beggars Banquet, Young God, Arena Rock Recording Co, are back in action and say new music is on the way.
Aurelio Valle, Wayne B. Magruder, and Peter Gannon never called it quits on CALLA — and have often worked with each other on other projects — but have been on hiatus since releasing 2007’s Strength In Numbers and a tour that year with Interpol. They’ve been active on Calla’s official socials this year, however, and recently wrote “It’s been a long time coming, new music very soon,” urging people to sign up for their mailing list.
They also wrote, “We are excited to reconnect with everyone who has supported us over the years. We have worked on many projects and collaborations which have inspired new music. New CALLA tracks are coming, released individually,” and to look out for new music and vinyl.
The tour with Interpol was a good match as CALLA had a dark, sometimes sinister style of indie rock. I was especially partial to 2003’s Televise. Check out a few songs below and stay tuned for more. Welcome back, CALLA!
