Post-hardcore supergroup L.S. Dunes announce new album ‘Violet’ (exclusive vinyl)

Post-hardcore supergroup L.S. Dunes emerged in 2022 with vocalist Anthony Green (Circa Survive, Saosin, The Sound of Animals Fighting), guitarists Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance) and Travis Stever (Coheed & Cambria), and Thursday’s rhythm section (drummer Tucker Rule and bassist Tim Payne), and their debut LP Past Lives was just as much of a dream-come-true as the band’s lineup is on paper, a refreshing distillation of all the different types of post-hardcore its members made in the early/mid 2000s. L.S. Dunes proved to be in it for the long haul, and now they’ve announced their sophomore album, Violet, due January 31 via Fantasy Records. We’ve got an exclusive, limited-to-500 “twilight” vinyl variant launching tonight at midnight EST in the BV shop.

The album, which was co-produced and mixed by Will Yip, includes recent single “Fatal Deluxe,” as well as new single “Machines,” which also drops at midnight. The new songs suggest that Past Lives was no fluke. They’re both cut from that same aughts-era post-hardcore cloth, and they feel like a step forward too. “As an album, Violet encapsulates everything we’ve been trying to accomplish since we formed as a band,” Tim Payne told Billboard. “Which is to give us each, as individual musicians, a safe space to explore music in ways that we have not yet had the chance to.”

“Having become much more familiar with each other as artists,” he added, “we were able to continue to push each other’s creative limits, but this time with a concerted effort to put the songs above all else. This helped create a very cohesive sound, while still being true to our own stylistic choices.”

L.S. Dunes are playing When We Were Young in Vegas this weekend, and then they continue on tour opening for Rise Against, including a show at NYC’s Brooklyn Paramount on Tuesday (10/22) with additional support from Spiritual Cramp. They also go on the Coheed cruise in 2025. All dates are listed below.
