David Byrne announces ‘Reasons To Be Cheerful’ 5th anniversary event in NYC
David Byrne will celebrate five years of Reasons To Be Cheerful, his non-profit online magazine, by hosting an event in NYC. Reasons To Be Cheerful‘s “Amazing Humans Doing Amazing Things” happens on October 8 at Town Hall, and he’s calling it a “raucous night of music, comedy, performances and inspirational storytelling.” Performers will include comedian and musician Fred Armisen, singer-songwriter Thao, NYC drumline Fogo Azul, comedian and ventriloquist Nina Conti, Belgian-Egyptian musician Tamino, performance artist Ellie Steingraeber, brass band Brass Queens, and Epidermis Circus, who will provide “spicy puppet cabaret.” Tickets are on sale now.
Byrne has been busy celebrating the 40th anniversary of Talking Heads‘ Stop Making Sense concert film, which he and the rest of the band did screening events in NYC and LA for in June. A deluxe edition of the soundtrack recently came out, along with a repress of last year’s deluxe edition double LP vinyl, and the A24 Blu-ray edition of the concert film came out in May.
