Tour news: Secret Chiefs 3, Lightning Bolt, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, The Damnwells, more

SECRET CHIEFS 3 / TREY SPRUANCE

Secret Chiefs 3, the anything-goes ensemble led by Trey Spruance (Faith No More / Mr Bungle), have a couple Northeast shows lined up for September: Philly’s Solar Myth on 9/11 and Brooklyn’s Union Pool on 9/14. Both shows will feature a lineup of Spruance, veteran rhythm section Ches Smith and Shahzad Ismaily, and new members Adam Minkoff and Matt Hollenberg. Trey notes that the lineup for SC3’s shows with The Dillinger Escape Plan in August will be “a whole other thing!”

Both these shows happen just after Spruance’s residency at John Zorn’s The Stone (September 4-7).

LIGHTNING BOLT

Art/noise duo Lightning Bolt are playing Basillica Soundscape in September and have now announced a tour to follow. Dates include Pittsburgh, Louisville, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Montreal, and Burlington, VT.

MJ LENDERMAN

MJ Lenderman only announced his fall tour yesterday and he’s already added a third NYC show.

LAURA MARLING

Laura Marling has announced her eighth album, Patterns in Repeat, due out on October 25, as well as special release shows happening in London and New York.

HOTLINE TNT / DISQ

Hotline TNT are continuing to tour in support of their 2023 album Cartwheel and they’ve just announced dates with Disq.

FCUKERS

NYC ’90s-inspired dance-pop trio Fcukers just announced their debut EP which will be out via Ninja Tune in September. They’ve also got live dates, including an Ed Banger party in NYC with Busy P and Hudson Mohawke.

THE DAMNWELLS

NYC indie rock vets The Damnwells will play a hometown show at Racket on November 14, and that’s their only show we know of at the moment.

LIFEGUARD / FONT

Chicago trio Lifegaurd and ’00s-inspired Austin band Font are on tour together and will play a free NYC day show at Union Pool on Sunday (7/14) as part of the venue’s Summer Thunder series.

QUIVERS

Australian band Quivers release their new album, Oyster Cuts, on August 9, and they’ll be in the US this summer for a few dates around Merge Records’ 35th anniversary fest this month, and then they’ll be back this fall for a proper tour that includes dates opening for Superchunk and more. They’ve now added more US shows.

DORA JAR

California alt-pop artist Dora Jar has announced her debut full-length album and a fall tour.

SNOTTY NOSE REZ KIDS

Canadian First Nations hip hop duo Snotty Nose Rez Kids, whose album Life After was nominated for the 2022 Polaris Music Prize, have announced the Red Future Tour happening this fall. They’ll drop below the US border for a lot of it, including a NYC show on December 5 at Knitting Factory at Baker Falls.

TASHA

Tasha has been busy as a vocalist in the Broadway production of Illinoise recently, and she’s announced a new album and a pair of release shows.
