Gregg Araki’s ’90s ‘Teen Apocalypse’ film trilogy getting released as a Criterion Collection box set

Gregg Araki‘s lusty, nihilistic, darkly funny and very influential mid-’90s “Teen Apocalypse Trilogy” of films — 1993’s Totally Fucked Up, 1995’s The Doom Generation and 1997’s Nowhere — is getting released as a Criterion Collection box set on September 24, available as a regular or UK Blu-ray set.

The set features new 4K transfers of The Doom Generation and Nowhere and a 2K transfer of Totally Fucked Up, and bonus features include a new documentary on the trilogy’s visual style; a new conversation between Araki and filmmaker Richard Linklater (Dazed & Confused, Before Sunrise); a new conversation between Araki and actor James Duvall (who starred in all three films); new commentary tracks for Totally Fucked Up and Nowhere; the Doom Generation video comic book; and more.

Also influential were the soundtracks to those three films, which features lots of shoegaze, electronica, industrial and more. Listen to a playlist featuring songs from the films, and watch trailers for all three, below.
