All Six Seasons of Community Coming to Peacock

Few television shows have ever committed to the bit as much as Community, which leaned into the fan refrain of “six seasons and a movie” while constantly being on the verge of cancellation during its time on NBC (and, in the case of the hard-won last season, on the now-defunct Yahoo! Screen). But good news for all Greendale alum — Community will be landing on Peacock on April 1st, departing its current home on Netflix.

The beloved Dan Harmon community college sitcom, which initially aired from 2009 to 2015, has only increased its cult following in the years since it wrapped — enough that production is now underway for the Community movie, which promises the complete return of the core cast.

This includes Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Ken Jeong, and Donald Glover, the latter of whom exploded to fame after leaving the show in its fifth season. Notably absent is Chevy Chase, who played Pierce on the show, but was reportedly extremely difficult on set; Pierce’s character was killed off in the show’s fifth season, and Chase laughed off any allegations of less-than-stellar behavior.

While plot details are still under wraps, McHale recently told Deadline that he’d be “shocked” if the movie doesn’t complete filming here in 2024. We do know that the movie will return to the show’s original setting of Greendale Community College. As for the script, Harmon revealed to Variety, “I can confirm Donald Glover’s report that I told him the script was done, but I will also say Donald’s sources are so unreliable because the script is always ‘almost done.’”

While anyone cheering on the Human Beings waits for April 1st and more details on the Community movie, it’s a perfect time to revisit our love letter to one of the most iconic episodes.
