SUMAC’s Aaron Turner & Nick Yacyshyn list their favorite albums of 2023
SUMAC–aka vocalist/guitarist Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom, etc), bassist Brian Cook (Botch, Russian Circles, These Arms Are Snakes, etc), and drummer Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists, Genghis Tron, etc)–are gearing up to celebrate their 10th anniversary with Boston and Brooklyn shows in February, and they’re also working on new material that they’ll play some of at those shows. Before that, though, Aaron and Nick have each made us lists of their favorite albums of 2023.
The lists include MC Yallah, BIG|BRAVE, Armand Hammer, Moor Mother, Gravesend, Jarhead Fertilizer, and more, and you can check out both full lists below.
The shows happen Boston’s Arts at the Armory on February 16 with Scarcity and Forbes Graham; and Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus on February 17 & 18 with Scarcity and Forbes Graham on night one and Ava Mendoza and Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean on night two.
