GoFundMe launched to cover medical fees and living expenses for Detroit artist Whodat
As the fundraiser (organized by Omar Mefteh and Thomas Shui) says, the Detroit artist “has endured a series of medical roadblocks that have severely impacted her livelihood… As you can imagine, the process of recovery is extremely costly, not just monetarily, but psychologically and emotionally as well.”
The new fund will go directly towards Whodat and her mother, who is her primary caretaker.
“The objective is to give them a bit of relief from what they have been going through over the years,” Mefteh says. The target is currently set at $20,000 (up from $10,000 after “an overwhelming amount of support”), though Mefteh says they would welcome more than that.
Whodat also has PayPal and Venmo (username @terriwhodat). The fundraiser additionally invites people to purchase music via her Bandcamp page to support her. She’s a long-time DJ and producer who has released on labels like Uzuri and Workshop.
