Manchester and Salford initiative Save Our Scene launches campaign to help local music communities
The team behind Save Our Scene is on the hunt for ideas or projects that will create “long-term positive change in the local music scene.” A selected applicant will receive a bursary of at least £5,000. A T-shirt is now available to help raise funds.
Applications opened last Wednesday, October 7th, and will be judged by a panel of local industry heads that includes SOS member Alice Woods.
“With the industry and venues under more threat than ever before, we are at an absolutely crucial point in time for our local scene,” Woods says. “So we hope that by creating this opportunity we can create something positive out of all the negatives.”
Earlier this year, SOS raised £18,000 to help music industry workers in Manchester and Salford who weren’t eligible for government support. This 20-track compilation, released on May 1st via Bandcamp, was part of the campaign.
