Suburban Knight reveals his first solo record in over a decade

Suburban Knight will put out his first solo record in over a decade this September, a self-titled 12-inch on Detroit Techno Records.

The vinyl-only EP is James Pennington’s first solo record since 2006, though he appeared on a couple of split releases with Sierra Sam over the past few years. Despite his low-profile as of late, Suburban Knight has had a crucial impact on Detroit techno, collaborating on Inner City’s “Big Fun” and releasing enduring classics like “The Art Of Stalking” and “Nocturbulous Behavior.” Fellow UR operative Ray 7 features on the new 12-inch.

5 Magazine originally reported on the new Suburban Knight record.
