Russell E.L. Butler to release new EP on Mister Saturday Night

Russell E.L. Butler is releasing a new EP this upcoming Bandcamp no-fees day.

Blah Blah features four new tracks, three of which were recorded at the Synthesizer Library in Prague, with the fourth at the now-NYC-based producer’s previous home in Oakland. It’s out on September 4th.

“My consciousness is meandering and at times I celebrate this drone of words,” Butler writes in text accompanying the EP. “Stripped of meaning, to reveal what’s beneath. Not an answer, but further questions. The purpose of the mantra is to quiet the conscious mind until the spirit takes over.”

The EP is the first release in more than two years for the label arm of New York party series and DJ duo Mister Saturday Night, who also run the venue Nowadays. For this next Bandcamp Friday, Mister Saturday Night will be donating the label portion of fees on all Bandcamp sales to Princess Janae Place, a Bronx-based organization that helps LGBTQ+ adults experiencing homelessness find housing, with a focus on supporting trans and gender-non-conforming people of color.

Russell E.L. Butler recently released an EP called Emotional Bangers Only, and they also contributed a remix on Ilana Byrne’s Strange Adventure EP for Naive.
