Erick Morillo dead at 49

Erick Morillo has died at the age of 49.

The Subliminal records head, known for house hits like Reel 2 Reel’s “I Like To Move It,” was found this morning in Miami Beach, TMZ reports. The circumstances surrounding Morillo’s death are currently unknown.

Morillo came to prominence via his early ’90s records on Strictly Rhythm. The Colombian-raised DJ was known for integrating Latin influences into house music and held major residencies at clubs like London’s Ministry Of Sound. He launched Subliminal in 1999 and released 12 Subliminal Sessions mixes by himself and other prominent artists throughout the 2000s.

Earlier this month, Morillo was arrested and charged with sexual battery.
