Chicago DJs are banding together to help Ron Hardy get a gravestone

The Frankie Knuckles Foundation and the Chosen Few DJs have teamed up to get a proper cornerstone for the gravesite of Ron Hardy.

Hardy, whose sets at the Music Box were crucial to the invention of house music, died on March 2nd, 1992. Since then, he’s been interred in an unmarked grave. Now, the Frankie Knuckles Foundation as well as the Chosen Few DJs (the original house heads behind the annual Chosen Few Picnic) are banding together to properly mark Hardy’s grave.

The two organizations have set up a GoFundMe and on May 8th, on what would have been Hardy’s 63rd Birthday, they’ll run a ten-hour livestream featuring the likes of Terry Hunter, Wayne Williams, Celeste Alexander, Craig Loftis, Bill Hardy (Ron’s nephew), Jamie 3:26 and Gene Hunt.

The livestream will broadcast on Le Nocturne Chicago’s Facebook page, as well as their >Twitch and YouTube channels.
