The longtime screamer confirmed the arrival time during an interview with Little Punk People at last weekend's Monster Mania convention in Cherry Hill, NJ. This marks the first LP release from the group since rebranding as Superjoint for legal reasons. Their last collection was 2003's A Lethal Dose American Hatred.
This latest album was tracked at Anselmo's own Nodferatu's Lair facility in New Orleans. While the band have gone through some lineup changes since the early 2000s, the current iteration features Anselmo, guitarists Kevin Bond (Artimus Pyledriver) and Jimmy Bower (Down, Eyehategod), drummer José Manuel Gonzalez (Warbeast, Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals) and bassist Stephen Taylor (Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals, Woven Hand).
The new Superjoint LP apparently isn't the only thing Anselmo's working on. He alluded in the interview that he's got some other "tripped-out music" on the go, while he also told Little Punk People interviewer Elliott that there's a possibility Down could return with new music as well.
