Rammstein cancel UK and European tour due to coronavirus outbreak

Rammstein have confirmed their 2020 UK and European tour has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The band were due to begin the run of summer dates in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt on May 25, finishing in Denmark’s Aarhus on August 4.

The tour also included three dates in the UK, with shows planned at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Belfast’s Boucher Road Playing Fields, and Coventry’s Ricoh Stadium.

In a statement, Rammstein updated fans on the tour’s fate and said they were investigating whether they could reschedule the shows. “Due to local event restrictions related to COVID-19, which now affect almost all planned dates, the band’s 2020 stadium tour can unfortunately not take place,” they said.

“We are currently checking whether it is possible to reschedule the dates and will communicate any updates as soon as possible! All tickets will remain valid until then. Thank you again for your understanding and patience.”

The group are also due to begin the North American leg of their tour on August 20 in Montreal. There is no word at present on whether those dates will also be cancelled.

The cancellation of the UK and European tour follows a previous update from the German band last month (April 17). “Recently, several international governments have extended their bans on large-scale events. Also affected, unfortunately, are some of the dates for the 2020 Rammstein Tour,” they said at the time.

“We are working on a solution for this difficult situation together with our partners in all the affected countries, and we hope for the understanding of those who have purchased tickets for the coming shows.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Rammstein are planning to re-release their infamous ‘Live In Berlin’ concert film — with the new version containing footage that was previously censored.
